Dreadnoughts Unlimited

Dreadnoughts Unlimited is a non-profit entity that has been established to provide scholarships to needy and eager musicians who will benefit from a week at Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp. We have awarded scholarships since 2001. The scholarships are funded mainly by individual donations, and drawings are held at kamp for instruments. To donate to the fund and get into the drawings, click here.

Thanks for supporting Dreadnoughts Unlimited since 2001!

We award scholarships each year to Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp. Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 scholarships. If you want to apply for a scholarship, here is more information:

This scholarship will pay for tuition to allow a needy aspiring musician to attend the Steve Kaufman Acoustic Kamp in Maryville, TN.

The recipient of the scholarship will be responsible for his or her travel expenses to and from Maryville, Tennessee. Applicants must be 18 or older, or be accompanied at camp by a responsible adult. (Note: Accompanying adult can be a camp companion if not registered as a camper - see http://www.acoustic-kamp.com/ for details.)

IMPORTANT: For full consideration, this application and accompanying recommendations must be received before the announced closing date of March 8, 2010. Applications are not considered complete without at least one recommendation. The scholarships will be awarded as soon as possible after the closing date so that alternate plans to attend may be made by those applicants who cannot be awarded scholarships.

Recommendations may be submitted along with the application, or under separate cover. Recommenders may be contacted by the panel with additional questions.

The closing date for receipt of applications is March 8, 2010.

Seth Naugler of Naugler Guitars in Buck's County, Pennsylvania is building an OM guitar that we will gave away during week 2 of SKAK. To see examples of Seth's work, go to Naugler Guitars. To see the specs for the 2008 scholarship guitar that was built by Seth Naugler, check out Seth's blog at The 2008 Scholarship guitar. We also have a Martin Backpacker that was donated to us by Kim Sherman and Darcy Cotten of Cotten Music.

We conduct drawings during SKAK to give away instruments. A donation to the DU Scholarship fund will get your name in these drawings. In 2010, we will conduct drawings during week 2 of kamp. You do not have to be present to win.

Please contact Dreadnoughts Unlimited for information on the scholarships. For information on Steve Kaufman's Flatpicking Kamp and Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamps, you can go to Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp.
